Tattoo

Second skin:
Leave it on for 24-48 hrs. You can shower with this type of bandage, as long as no water from showering gets in. If so, remove immediately.
If it is irritating your skin, take it off as soon as possible.
Removal: in the shower, peel the edges and pull +stretch the edges away from the tattoo.
Do not peel the second skin off like a bandaid. This may rip off scabs, which effects the healing.
Give the tattoo a good wash, remove all the plasma by washing with unscented soap and water.
pat dry with a paper towel or a clean towel.
REgular bandage:
Keep it on overnight. Your tattoo will continue to seep plasma and blood and mess up your bedsheets.
Remove the bandage and take a shower.
Give the tattoo a good wash, remove all the plasma by washing with unscented soap and water.
pat dry with a paper towel or a clean towel.
do’s:
Keep out of the sun. UV exposure during and after healing causes the tattoo to heal differently/fade excessively. Once the tattoo is healed, be sure to use sunscreen in order to preserve the tattoo / prevent excessive aging.
Optional: moisturize with unscented moisturizer when dry and/or itchy. Lubiderm is usually recommended. If you know your skin well enough to dry heal your tattoo, by all means do!
Keep the tattoo clean and dry. Your tattoo is healing for 10-14 days, so look after it well. It takes two weeks for it to seal, a full month to two months for it to be settled/ no longer shiny (depending on the skin).
If you develop a fever, chills, rash, increasing pain, or excessive swelling, contact a doctor. Infections are rare, but they can happen.
don’ts:
Do not soak the fresh tattoo (no hot tubs, no baths!!) High risk of infection/poor healing results.
Do not sunbathe/tan the fresh tattoo.
Do not stretch the tattoo. You can smack it, or lightly moisturize it, but no scratching!
Avoid working out for the first week. Sweat irritates the fresh tattoo.
